ASSISTANT DEAN OF STUDENTS :

Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Supervise housing in four Residence Halls, as well as the Residence Life staff of four professional Resident Directors and fourteen student Resident Assistants.

Recruit, select, train and supervise Resident Staff.

Plan and arrange social, cultural, and recreational activities of various student groups; meet with student and faculty groups to plan activities.
Conduct orientation programs for new students with other members of faculty and staff; counsel students on methods for improving their organizations and promote student participation in social, cultural and recreational activities. Coordinate the preparation and publishing of student affairs calendar and advertising/press releases.

Initiate and advise Student Advisory Committee on the campus food service to assure that food service management include student preferences in daily menus.
Supervise major campus events: New Student Orientation; Parents’ Weekend.
Interact with Campus Police on various campus-based problems & issues; as well as with Health Services Clinic and Counseling Center, the college food service, housekeeping, and physical plant.

Serve on and actively contribute to committees; Student Life and Student Wholeness Committees; the Alcohol Alert Team; and the Drug Task Force.

COORDINATOR OF STUDENT ACTIVITIES :

PA 1986-1991

Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Developed a comprehensive student activities program focusing on development of student’s leadership skills. Prepared and conducted workshops on Public Speaking, Assertiveness Training, Time Management, and Conflict Confrontation.

Instrumental in involving International students in campus activities: International Week, International Buffet Dinner (Round table discussion between American and International Students), instituted an International theme on the campus center concourse.
